Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay confident of being a hit at Camp Nou – La Liga news
Barcelona’s new signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ibrahim-Afellay-c16547 believes that he needs to be patient to succeed at Camp Nou.
Afellay joined the Spanish champions in January 2011 and since then he has not completed a full game with the Catalan giants. The 24-year-old is not worried about his lack of chances and is confident to break into the first team soon.
The Dutch international knows the value of wearing a Barcelona shirt.
“Playing seven minutes for Barcelona is more valuable than getting playing time at every other club. I was supposed to come on when it was still 1-1 in the game against Arsenal. The fact that the coach is willing to play me in such an important game proves
that I'm on the right track, even though I arrived here only a few months ago,” said the Dutchman. “There's nothing more fulfilling than making somebody happy by giving them my signature. People often ask for a picture when I'm having dinner somewhere. They
are often honoured that you're having dinner there.”
The winger admitted that the style of play at Barcelona is completely different to his former club PSV Eindhoven. He said that at Barcelona, everybody is moving to receive the pass even before you control the ball but at PSV, it was totally different. He
also went onto praise the Barcelona players for helping him to settle at the club.
Afellay is glad to play alongside his idol http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 and playing in the same team with the Argentinean is a dream come true for him. The Dutchman is also learning Spanish to improve his communication with the teammates.
Afellay joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 as a 17-year-old and always had belief in himself of making it to the highest level. Even though he is over the moon after joining Barcelona but he wants to keep his head down and improve on the deficiencies of his game.
He is currently on international duty with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hungary-c2920 on 25 March, 2011.
