Barcelona not any closer to Arsenal’s valuation of Francesc Fabregas
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 in the coming summers by making a bid in the reign of £42.7 million. After being snubbed twice by Arsenal, Barca are unlikely to get third time lucky as their current offer still falls short of the Gunners’ valuation of the player. Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, is reportedly expecting a bid of £45 million for Fabregas’ signature.
Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell, has expressed serious concerns over the likelihood of a deal getting finalized. Barcelona have confessed that Arsenal’s high valuation of the player will make it very difficult for the two clubs to come to an agreement. The 47-year-old Sandro Rosell said, “We will never pay 50 or 60 million Euros for Cesc. The whole world knows he wants to come and that we want to sign him. The signing of Cesc has become difficult because the expectation levels have been driven up. I assure you I will try and talk with him (Wenger) in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757.”
Rosell has admitted that Pep Guardiola, the Barcelona tactician, is keen to sign the 23-year-old regardless of the club’s ongoing financial constraints. According to some statistics, Barcelona are under a mammoth £400 million debt, making it very difficult for the club to make transfer funds available.
Rosell added “It is impossible due to a simple reason- in football, prices are reduced each year and if, we offered Arsenal €40m for Cesc last summer, €50m is now impossible.”
Arsenal, who poached yet another Barca prodigy, Jon Toral, recently, have damaged the existing relationship between the two clubs. The move can have negative implications on a meeting which is set to take place between Wenger and Rosell in South Africa. Rosell has admitted that the Jon Toral issue has made their liaison even more strained. However, he admitted that Guardiola’s insistence on reacquiring Fabregas might see negotiations continue.
With such an exorbitant fee being demanded by Arsenal, the only way out for Barcelona would be a transfer request on Fabregas’ part. Fabregas started his football career with Barcelona before he was signed by Arsenal at the age of 16 back in year 2003. The prodigious midfielder was given the esteemed captain’s armband on November 24th, 2008 and has become an iconic figure ever since.
Barcelona are currently sitting atop the La Liga table and their UEFA Champions League campaign is also going in the right direction. The inclusion of Francesc Fabregas, conclusively, would definitely strengthen the Catalan giants.
