Barcelona offer Pep Guardiola a new contract – La Liga News
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 president, Sandro Rosell, has stated that the club have offered Pep Guardiola a new contract and he can sign a new deal whenever he wants to.
La Masia academy graduate has stated his desire to continue at Camp Nou as long as he has the desire to do so but has refused to commit his long-term future to the club.
Guardiola took charge of the Barcelona first team after being promoted from his responsibilities as the reserve team coach in 2008. Since then, he has become the most successful coach in the history of the Catalan club, winning 12 titles in over 200 games.
Rosell stated that they have prepared a new contract for the esteemed manager and Guardiola can sign the new deal whenever he wants to, on his own prerogative.
"We are doing everything possible for Guardiola to continue," he told Al Jazeera. "For him, the door of our office is always open and the contract is ready.
The former captain has been offered a flexible deal which he can chose to sign on his own liking. It has clauses that can extend his relationship with the club for as long as he wants to.
Rosell stated that they have offered the contract to reassure their sentiments for him and he can do as he pleases.
"He can choose to sign for a year, two, three of four. Or even if he wants, he can sign for one year with an option for another one, or an option for two more.
"The contract is on the table for him to feel happy and comfortable. I hope he will say 'yes' and that he stays with us."
During the interview, Rosell also shed light on Barcelona’s pursuit of Welsh international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422.
"I do not know if Bale interests us," Rosell added. "If I did, I would not say, because his price would go up. They would not ask for €40 million, but €50m.
"In any case, even if we wanted him, we would never pay €40m for him."
With the Catalan club looking to get the best valuation of the payers they buy, it looks likely that the Tottenham star will not join Barcelona in the near future.
