Barcelona spokesman Freixa counters Jose Mourinho’s arguments on UNICEF sponsorship
The latest war between two of the fiercest rivals in the world, Real Madrid, and, Barcelona, is far from over. Rants from their battle in the final bout of Copa del Rey had hardly vanished that their encounter in the semi final of Champions League arrived.
The match ended with similarity to a notorious blood thirsty script, pundits pocketing gold again for their prediction of an eventful night.
Real Madrid’s manager, Jose Mourinho was at the centre of the whole saga. He voiced his concern for referees having a great influence in the match left and right.
In the pre-match press release the Portuguese manager stated that it was up to the referees to insure both teams played fairly on the pitch. The worst took charge, as on field drama and diving misled the referee into making wrong calls.
During the match, Mourinho tried to raise his voice yet again only to get booked with a red card and shown into the stands. Though his reasons were mixed with alleged swearing and cursing, they were for just reasons, as the on-field referee was unable to
make accurate decisions.
Barcelona, on the other hand, managed to ruin their reputation for beautiful football once again, allowing media and critics another opportunity to lambast against them. Their manager, Pep Guardiola, was labelled as the mastermind behind this saga, as Mourinho
went on to state that it the former Catalan defender has never played fair in big matches.
He reminisced over his tenure with defending champions of English Premier League, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The 48-year old manager stated that when he met Barcelona at another instant in the Champions League, when he was managing the Blues, Guardiola was once again present
with his cheap antics. Mourinho even linked UEFA with unfair favouring of Barcelona because of political lobbying.
The former manager of Porto stated that Barcelona’s friendship with influential figures in UEFA and their new sponsorship with UNICEF was assisting them unfairly in their campaigns. Officials from Barcelona have bared their teeth at these allegations.
One of their spokesmen, Antoni Freixa just recently responded to these acqusations by Mourinho. On the UNICEF issue Freixa rebuked any ideas of Catalans being favoured by the European football’s governing body.
Freixa cleared out that the intentions of the Spanish footballing giants were as clear as crystal. He went on to explain that it he wanted all clubs and managers to work together in a friendly environment, a task that has been becoming harder with Mourinho.
He clarified that Barcelona will by no means provoke any kind of violence, on, or, off the field. Freixa further stated that Mourinho should not ask about their sponsorships rather concentrate on less notorious football.
On the UNICEF issue he concluded by saying, “I don't know if it's the UNICEF publicity or the friendship of (Angel) Villar at UEFA, where he is vice president. I don't know if it's because they are so nice, but they have got great power. The rest of us have
no chance”.
