After a 1-0 victory over Valencia, the Catalans are still on top of La Liga points table, and 5 points clear of arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
With three victories in three matches, Barcelona are the only team this season to have a perfect record. Squeezing in a goal in the 22nd minute, La Blaugrana managed their sublime record under Tito Vilanova.
Adriano hit the back of the net with a thundering strike but a one-goal cushion is never enough for the Camp Nou-based outfit. The Catalans continued to make runs and created chances, but failed to get pact http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Alves-c11071.
The goal scorer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s lead.
After the first goal, Barcelona kept trying their luck on goal. With Pedro’s shot being saved by Diego Alves, and Fabregas shooting wide of the goal, another goal was just waiting to happen.
Two good chances were missed by Cesc Fabregas, leaving Tito Vilanova on the edge of his seat. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Victor-Ruiz-c36094 nearly scored.
Los Che were finally able to steer the ball past Victor Valdes, however, the goal was disallowed and waved as offside.
However, the game still seemed to be in Barcelona’s hands. The Catalans were able to keep possession for long periods, but did not disturb the scorers. Messi made several runs, but despite his best efforts a 1-0 win was what Barca had to settle with.
A win is a win, and three points, are three points. Still on top of the league table with nine points to show for their three league meetings, Barcelona are on fire.
Nevertheless, a narrow one-nil victory should remind the Copa del Rey winners that they aren’t unbeatable, and by losing to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona need to do better.
On the other hand, Madrid finally won a league game, following up their Spanish Super Cup victory; they have their eyes on Barca’s spot up top. Barcelona will have to step up the pace if they want to maintain their lead.
