The Catalonia-based outfit will miss out Spanish football federation’s (RFEF) next meeting in retaliation to the perceived ill-treatment by referees this season.
Sandro Rosell’s administration is set to deliver another blow to Barcelona’s tradition in a move against professional norms and ethics. The Camp Nou-based outfit announced they will have no representative in Spanish football federations next meeting.
The club’s decision to take drastic measures comes on the back of defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Saturday night.
La Blaugrana have been the victim of some poor refereeing in recent matches, while profiting from mistakes of match officials as recently as their La Liga fixture against Atletico Madrid.
In the aftermath of the league match, a spokesman for Barcelona's board, Toni Freixa, revealed that the club will appeal the red-card decision.
On the other hand, in a complete disrespect for the integrity of referees, Pique lashed out on the match official and claimed that his sending-off was ‘pre-meditated.’
The former Manchester United player’s outburst has led to a war of words between referees' technical committee president, Victoriano Sanchez Arminio, and Toni Freixa. As a result, it was announced that Barcelona will boycott RFEF general assembly meeting
on Tuesday, 06 March 2012.
"Hopefully in the remainder of the season, we have no grounds to feel how we feel now," he said.
"It (refereeing) is a difficult task and we understand that this year we're lucky. However, we remain faithful not to discuss the work of the referees."
"It should be noted that the behaviour of our players and coaching staff has been and is impeccable in Barcelona and the Spanish team," he added.
With Barcelona failing in their challenge for fourth successive league crown, the Catalan club look busy in averting the attention from their own selves. Such actions from a club of La Blaugrana’s pedigree are unwelcomed, a fact they have been trying to
prove otherwise.
As the outfit from Catalonia indulges in petty disputes off-field, Real Madrid continue their march to La Liga glory under Jose Mourinho.
The capital club have an envious 10-point lead at the top of Primera Division rankings and look set to take the prize home at the end of the season.
