Barcelona to move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 – La Liga News
Reports in Spanish media suggest http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 are interested in bringing Chelsea left-back, Ashley Cole, to Nou Camp.
According to reports by The Daily Mirror, FC Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has been in the hunt to add a left-back to his squad and sees Cole as the signing that would add quality to the team.
It is also believed that the Catalan side are ready to offer Chelsea 12 million pounds for the English international, a price that might convince the London club into letting go of the ageing full-back.
However, Guardiola will first have to get the move sanctioned from the Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell.
The Catalans are also believed to be interested in Tottenham Hotspur winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422. The Welsh international has been the target of top-flight clubs all over Europe. But with Tottenham expected to sell the player only to the biggest bidder, a move seems
unlikely.
Reports that Eric Abidal might be on his way out of Camp Nou have made matters worse for the defending La Liga champions, who are now in great need of a left-back to fill in the void. Needless to say, Cole seems the prime candidate at this point in time.
The English international joined Chelsea in a controversial transfer from London rivals, Arsenal, in the summer of 2006.
Ever since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Cole has been able to make a very positive impact and is an undoubted starter for the team. The left-back played a very important role for the Blues in their 2009/10 Premier League triumph.
Despite being 30, he has been applauded by football experts all over the world as one of the best left-backs in Europe at the moment, for his remarkable performances over the years.
He featured in all of Chelsea’s matches last season and even managed to win Chelsea F.C. Player's Player of the Year award. It was the second time Cole had managed to win the coveted award.
Real Madrid had also shown great interest in bringing the player to their squad, but Chelsea refused the offer. However, with January transfer window fast approaching, the Blues might let go of the player should the offer be too good to turn down.
