Barcelona vs. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Athletic-Club-c38535 – Spanish La Liga Review (Part 1)
It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 who helped Barcelona win a difficult fixture against Athletic Bilbao over the weekend. The Argentinean scored a late goal to give his side all three points as the La Blaugrana faced Los Leones on Sunday. Barcelona were not at their
best as they faced Bilbao but still managed to win 2-1 in their home ground.
Athletic Club gave out an extraordinary performance while being away from home. However, the league leaders did enough to gain all three points from a difficult home fixture against the Los Leones. Lionel Messi’s late goal was enough to give Barcelona
the win that they were craving for since the game started.
The game started positively for Barcelona as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 scored the first goal within the first five minutes. Even though there were many opportunities created by both the teams, they simply couldn’t break the dead lock until a late tackle from Sergio
Busquets inside the danger zone allowed Athletic Club to come back on level terms as they were awarded with a penalty kick. It was during the 50th minute when Bilbao equalized from the spot kick. Later, it was Lionel Messi who stepped
up during the 78th minute to give his side a 2-1 victory right after he was denied a penalty as he was brought down by the Bilbao defence line.
After winning the game, Barcelona got back to the “winning ways” as they lost and drew a game in a row. After drawing the game against Sporting Gijon, Barcelona suffered a loss against Arsenal during a midweek UEFA Champions League fixture at the Emirates.
With this victory over Athletic Club, Barcelona are five points clear from Real Madrid who are trying to fight their way back to the top of the Spanish La Liga table.
As the game kicked off at the Nou Camp, Barcelona took the game by storm. With only four minutes gone in the referee R. Dominguez’s watch, David Villa scored the first goal for Barcelona. The move started from the midfield just like the “traditional”
Barcelona and it was Xavi Hernandez who played an inch perfect pass towards Daniel Alves who was playing more on the right wing position rather than the right back position. The Brazilian full back played a lovely first touch pass towards Lionel Messi but
the Spanish goal scoring machine David Villa got his foot on the ball and found the back of the net with only a single touch. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gorka-Iraizoz-c15189 was left helpless and with Barcelona scoring the first goal so early in the game, the score was expected to be at least
3-0 at the Nou Camp.
The visitors did not panic after the first goal and tried to create chances to get back into the game. Their first real chance came during the 11th minute. The Spanish La Liga’s hot property http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Llorente-c13671 played a marvellous
one-two with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique right outside the 18 yard box, he still managed to get past the Spanish centre back after some marvellous foot work. The Spanish striker then crossed the ball towards Markel Susaeta again but
his header only found the side netting.
