Barcelona vs Atletico Bilbao – Second Half Report (Part 2)
After the 70th minute, the Spanish champions looked to be frustrated as they pressed more upon Atletico Bilbao’s defensive lines. Bilbao looked to be like an army without spears and only shields, they had no intention of attacking as the ball
mostly remained in their half and Barcelona played it safe amongst them in order to find the gap.
Atletico Bilbao simply had no answer to the quick passing of Barcelona strikers and midfielders as the home side totally dominated in terms of possession and shots on target. The Spanish champions surrounded their opponents’ 18 yard box and moved the ball
around to find the suitable time to shoot it in order to find the back of the net.
With only 25 minutes remaining in the game, the home team’s frustration grew even more. They were being offside more often. However, with the inclusion of David Villa in the team, the game opened up as the Blaugrana wearing side started playing their quick
passes even more. During the 78th minute, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 star David Villa got a wonderful chance to put his team up front. It was Xavi Hernandez who played a wonderful through ball towards the Barcelona number 7, but he delayed too much to
take his shot on goal and he couldn’t find the target even though the shot looked to be finding the back of the net.
During the 80th minute, the ball did find the back of the net for the home side. Sadly, for them, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 again was the
one who initiated but with Villa waved offside, it meant that the home team were not going in front.
With the game almost approaching full time, the score remained level as Barcelona kept on pressing forward in order to score a goal. Despite the fact that the Spanish champions dominated the game with 70% of the possession, they simply couldn’t break the
dead lock between the two teams. The defensive lines of Bilbao were simply too strong for all of Barcelona’s attackers. They couldn’t breach Bilbao’s brick walls and even though Josep Guardiola deployed different cannons to bombard them down, it looked as
if the visitors had build their own little fort around their 18 yard box through which the Catalans simply couldn’t find a way.
Three extra minutes were given to both the teams as the game reached the 90th minute. The home side kept on pressing forward in order to find the back of the net but to score a goal against Atletico Bilbao on this night was impossible. They were
well organized at the back. The game finished in a goalless draw as Josep Guardiola’s side went back to their locker rooms with disappointed faces. No doubt that the Catalan Giants were the much better side but defensively Atletico Bilbao were quite strong
and they did not let Barcelona penetrate through them.
