Barcelona vs. Deportivo – Spanish La Liga Review (Part 1)
Barcelona played a second tire team at the Nou Camp to draw the game against Deportivo. The Galicians are still in the drop zone of the Spanish La Liga while the Catalan Giants were crowned Champions on the night.
Miguel Angel Lotina tried to help his side to win the game against Barcelona as Josep Guardiola fielded a totally second-choice team. There were a number of youngsters in the starting eleven but Deportivo could not take advantage of it.
The match between the Spanish Champions and Deporitvo ended in a goalless draw. While Barcelona won the Spanish La Liga title and were crowned on the night, Deportivo will savour the one point won against the Catalan Giants as they are going to try and take
all three points from their next week’s fixture.
Before the game kicked off, Deportivo applauded for Barcelona who were named as the Spanish Champions last week after they drew the game against Levante. Barcelona played with their second choice side while Deportivo fielded their best eleven in order to
take a positive result.
As the game kicked off at the Nou Camp, the visitors started brightly. With only three minutes gone in the first half, Deportivo got the first opportunity of the game.
The young Marc Bartra could not clear the ball on time and the Deportivo star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lassad-Nouioui-c21686 took advantage of it. Nouioui flicked the ball past Bartra and took his shot on goal. The Spanish goal stopper Victor Valdes was not in position but still managed
to get his right hand on the ball in order to deny Deportivo a wonderful goal scoring opportunity.
It was hard for the home team to create chances. With so many young players playing for Barcelona, it was hard for them to keep the possession of the ball for a long period of time. Deportivo played wonderful counter attacking tactics and the next real goal
scoring opportunity also fell Deporitvo’s way.
The visitors came close to score during the twentieth minute of the game. The Deporitvo man, Lassad won the ball right outside the 18 yard box and tried his luck on goal. Even though the ball seemed to be travelling at a lot of pace, it did not find the
target and drifted wide off the target. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Victor-c36011 Valdes was left untroubled but it caused a lot of concern in the Barcelona defence.
After the second real effort on goal by Deportivo, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 found their feet on the ground. The Catalan Giants imposed their passing play and started to dominate in the midfield. Deportivo were making it hard for Barcelona but the Catalans grew in confidence
and went forward to cause problems for the Deportivo defenders.
The Spanish Champions were playing their second choice team. Josep Guardiola simply knew that his side have won the Spanish La Liga a week before this game. Therefore, the Catalan boss did not risk his star players in this game and played the second string
to give them a chance to play in the Spanish La Liga.
On the other hand, Deportivo played all their available men and tried to take advantage against the Spanish Champions.
