Barcelona vs. Malaga – player ratings (part 1)
Defenders and Goalkeeper - Barcelona:
Victor Valdes:
The Barcelona number 1 took the field with a positive vibe. He definitely dominated the game with his aggressiveness and saved a lot of shots taken by Malaga strikers.
Even though he looked to be untroubled during the first half, the second half saw him in a fuss. Duda’s free kick was the only direct shot that he had to block and he could not save it.
During the first half, he barely got to touch the ball and did not even make a single save as his team mates flew forward to get a 3-0 scoreline.
In the second half, he proved to be a brick wall but conceded a goal. The Barcelona number 1 gets
6 for his efforts between the sticks.
Eric Abidal:
The Frenchman found himself out of position at times. After scoring a goal in the Copa Del Rey he has found the hidden talent of finishing the ball into the net. The Barcelona full back had an opportunity to score during the first half but his shot found
the side netting.
The Frenchman often found himself in the oppositions' territory and threatened them by making runs on the left flank.
He also combined well with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, who made their
runs from the right flank. Eric Abidal deserves a 7 for his efforts – defensively and up front.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique:
The former Manchester United centre back was simply a brick wall for the Catalan Giants. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julio-c19950 Baptista was the only Malaga striker, who troubled him at times, but the Catalan had enough to brush the threat off. The Barcelona centre back deserves a
7 for his efforts.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331:
The captain of the team definitely had an outstanding night on the pitch. He worked hard in his position along with Gerard Pique and both centre backs combined well to dispossess the opponents outside the Catalan box. The Barcelona captain deserves a
7.5 for his efforts.
Daniel Alves:
The Brazilian full back could not stay on the pitch for long but he still looked to be a threat on the right flank for the moment he was on the pitch. The injury he suffered in the 15th minute looked to be a hamstring injury and he might be out
for long.
Daniel Alves helped Andres Iniesta score the first goal of the game. The Brazilian full back got the ball at his feet on the right flank and after getting past the Malaga full back he gave the ball to Andres Iniesta, who shot it into the net to make it 1-0
for the Catalan Giants. The Brazilian full back deserves a 6 for his efforts on the pitch.
