Barcelona vs. Malaga – player ratings (part 3)
Strikers - Barcelona
Pedro Rodriguez:
Pedro Rodriguez was simply phenomenal yet again. His impact on the Barcelona game is not applauded as much as it should be. The Catalan striker has been delivering for quite some time now and had an extraordinary night against Malaga as well.
Pedro Rodriguez had made a first team position in Josep Guardiola’s side and he is now crucial for them time and time again.
During the first half, Pedro Rodriguez made sure that he was in the right position at the right time. Lionel Messi gave a wonderful ball towards Andres Iniesta, who struck the ball onto the Malaga goalkeeper.
However, Pedro Rodriguez was present there to tap the ball in towards the goal as he helped the team triple their advantage on the score board.
The young Spaniard has achieved a lot in this young age and did a fine job while playing against Malaga.
During the second half, he managed to give a wonderful pass towards David Villa, who looked to be on a hat trick but he struck his shot off target and a great chance was wasted by the Catalan Giants.
Pedro Rodriguez deserves a 7.5 for his efforts on the pitch.
David Villa:
The newly signed Barcelona player is what they needed especially after the departure of two goal-scoring strikers, Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is proving to be far better than the Swedish striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 but he still has to prove his
worth to become better than Samuel Eto’o.
However, he is providing the team with a lot of goals and assists and he was definitely the star of the show for Barcelona as they played Malaga.
Even though Lionel Messi was playing in the first team, the Spanish goal scoring machine managed to outshine the Argentinean striker as he scored a brace.
The first goal for him came early on when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 delivered a wonderful through ball towards him and he shot the ball into the net between the legs of the goalkeeper.
Later, during the second half, a pass from Xavi Hernandez helped him score the fourth goal for Barcelona and second goal for him.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 striker scored two goals against Malaga and even though he is criticized for not finding the back of the net often for the Spanish Champions, he is proving his 40 million Euro price tag as he netted his sixteenth goal of the season.
The Spanish striker will be the one to look out for whenever Barcelona are in their stride. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 is definitely the Man-of-the-Match and he deserves a
9 for his efforts on the pitch.
It could have been an easy 10 on 10 performance for the Spaniard but he missed a few chances in the first half, which show that he still needs to perfect his finishing skills in front of the goal.
