Barcelona vs. Porto – European Super Cup – Match Review (Part 5)
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 getting hold of the game, it was hard for Porto to get hold of the ball. The Catalans moved the ball around steadily. Porto rarely got to see the ball and they were simply chasing shadows. Despite not creating a lot of chances, Barcelona still
managed to keep the ball for a long period of time in order to tire the opposition.
Porto looked to be tiring as they wanted to press Barcelona high up. On the other hand, Barcelona were passing and moving the ball around and did not let Porto take full control of the game.
The Catalans started to dominate the midfield with Xavi Hernandez finally pulling the strings of the game. While Andres Iniesta looked to be threatening in the attack, Xavi Hernandez distributed the ball perfectly and helped Barcelona control the pace of
the game.
Slowly and gradually, the Catalans became the better side on the pitch and after controlling the game for a long time; they attacked and tried to find the back of the net.
The first goal did not come without a mistake from Porto. The centre midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Freddy-c14144 Guarin made a foolish mistake and allowed Barcelona to score the first goal of the game.
While Barcelona were trying to pressurize the Porto players and did not let them take control of the ball for a long time, Guarin made a mistake in the centre of the pitch as he tried to give a pass back towards Helton. The ball did not reach Helton as Lionel
Messi was standing right inside the penalty area. The Argentinean star took the ball and got past Helton with the help of his quick feet. Messi then easily rounded off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Helton-c16018 and found the back of the net.
With the first goal falling for Barcelona, it was obvious that it was not their last. The Catalans were dominating and with only six minutes left to play in the first half, they were leading the game.
As the second half started, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-c29582 found the deflected shot right at his
feet. The Spaniard lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper but he could only find the roof of the net.
Eric Abidal soon took down Guarin in the penalty area and a penalty shout was denied by the referee.
The match continued and Barcelona dominated in all the departments. Soon, the already-booked Porto star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rolando-c31583 took down Lionel Messi and he was red carded as he got a second yellow card.
Barcelona then had a man’s advantage and with Barcelona playing against ten players, they scored another goal during the 88th minute. It was the newly signed player, Cesc Fabregas, who was at the end of a Lionel Messi’s cross. He controlled the
ball perfectly and found the back of the net.
Later, Guarin ferociously tackled http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 and got a straight red card as Porto were down to nine men. Barcelona passed their way through to the final whistle and won the match 2-0.
Barcelona were crowned as the European Super Cup winners and now the question arises whether there is any team in the world who can stop them?
