Barcelona want Guardiola to become the next Sir Alex
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has told the media that he believes Josep Guardiola is destined for a legendary status at the club. Rosell has said that the current Barca manager can do for Barcelona, what Sir Alex Ferguson has done for Manchester United.
The Barca president sees Guardiola being an integral part of the club for many more years to come. In less than two years in charge of the Spanish giants, Guardiola has already won every major club competition in Europe and the world.
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has nothing but praise for his manager, saying, “I would give the team 10 out of 10, because they cannot perform any higher. I like things a lot. I do not think that there are any problems. I would like to see him (Guardiola)
become like Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, and Franz Beckenbauer at Bayern Munich. I can see him being president of this club.” Rosell believes that Guardiola can emulate Sir Alex Ferguson and carve his own legacy at Barcelona.
Josep 'Pep' Guardiola took over at the helm in the summer of 2008. In his first season in charge, Guardiola led the team to the treble of the La Liga title, the Champions League, and the Copa Del Rey. During the next season, Barcelona won the Supercopa de
España, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. This meant that in one year, Guardiola’s Barcelona won six trophies in six competitions, completing the first ever sextuple. The achievement ensures that Josep Guardiola has already secured his place
in Barcelona folklore. However, Sandro Rosell sees his manager going even further.
Guardiola has made no secret of his desire to one day manage an English club. The former Barcelona player recently stated he would be interested in a job in the Premier League, once his time with Barcelona comes to end. If Sandro Rosell’s comments are any
indication, then Guardiola might be with the Spanish champions for a long time yet.
