Pep Guardiola’s men travel to England on Wednesday to play out the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against the Blues. The match which will take place at the Stamford Bridge and is bound to be an entertaining game to watch.
Considering the history the two clubs have in Europe, there is a great sense of excitement in the air. Even though Barca are considered the favourites to qualify for the final, many believe that anything is possible at this stage of the competition.
The last time the two sides met was in 2009, which was also at the semi-final stage interestingly. Even though the Catalan giants managed to book a place at the final the last time, there was a considerable amount of controversy surrounding the encounter
between the two teams.
Chelsea boast a perfect record at home in the Champions League this season and will hope to maintain their home form in the prestigious tournament. Barcelona on the other hand have been equally destructive in their European exploits and are the current title
holders.

While talking to the Daily Mirror, the midfielder was quoted as saying:
"Our challenge is to keep to our style and system and forget the atmosphere. We want to score goals, as it makes it easier to cope with the second leg. Chelsea are a big club and the semi-final will be very even. No team is ever such a clear favourite at
this stage of competition. People may see us as favourites, but we must remain focused if we are to reach the final."
Can the English Premier League outfit redeem their past and knock out the current European champions from the competition? We can only wait and find out.
