Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay has insisted that he will surely be an improved player next season. He stated that he is happy with his performances in his maiden season with the Catalan giants and hopes to carry on fighting for his place.
The Dutchman joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven in the January transfer window in a deal estimated valued at 3 million Euros. The attacking midfielder signed a four-year deal which will keep him at Camp Nou until 2015.
Afellay revealed that he is relishing his time at the club and has certainly learned a lot from the players and the manager in a short period. He stated that he is impressed with his displays in his debut season and is looking forward to improve further
in the upcoming campaign.
“I think that the conditions are there to do even better next season. The past six months have already been quite good, though. I feel very well and the future is looking very bright. I have been at the club for only a few months, but I already feel like
a much better player than before I arrived here,” the player was quoted as saying.
The winger also expressed his delight on winning the UEFA Champions League in his first season at the club. Barcelona defeated Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley Stadium to become European champions for the second time in three years. He praised his teammates
for putting a master-class performance in the final.
“Winning the Champions League was absolutely fantastic. It was the first time for me and it is an incredible feeling. Manchester United are a great team, but we put in a superb performance and showed our class,” he concluded.
Ibrahim Afellay made 27 appearances for the Catalans since his transfer in January and scored two goals. His performances were appreciated by Pep Guardiola and the midfielder is tipped to be a great player. The Dutch international has played 34 times for
his country and has scored three goals in the process.
