Barcelona’s Eric Abidal delighted after making a comeback against Real Madrid - UCL news
Barcelona defender, Eric Abidal, has expressed his delight after making a comeback against Real Madrid during the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final. The tie took place on Tuesday, 03 May at Camp Nou. It all ended level at 1-1 but the Catalan
giants advanced through to the finals on the back of a 2-0 away win in the first leg.
Abidal suffered from a liver tumour that forced him out of action for almost six weeks after surgery. The 31-year-old was delighted at his speedy recovery and at the same time was thankful towards the home fans who gave him a hero’s welcome.

minute and was given a standing ovation coupled with generous applause. The former Lyon man hailed the 80,000 spectators present at the occasion and wished that Barcelona could once again get better of Manchester United, who are highly likely to make it to
the finals leaving Schalke 04 behind in the race.
Abidal joined the Catalan giants in 2007 and made 94 League appearances so far to go along with 32 European appearances.
While talking to the press after that win, the Frenchman said, “It was a very important moment for me; I've worked hard to get back. I’ve had three very difficult weeks but these things happen in life. The most important thing is to fight. "
The defender was enthusiastic ahead of the trophy final, possibly against Manchester United, and expressed his desire to spend some more time on the pitch after making a successful comeback. It was a cameo appearance for the French international but was
enough to announce his return.
The defender concluded his talk by saying, “Each player has their own goals, and mine was to play in this match. I have many feelings about returning. I’ve seen people here I love, and they have helped me and the entire team.”
Barcelona are also on their way towards their 21st La Liga title as they are just four points adrift of achieving the feat.
