Barcelona’s Gerard Pique accuses Real Madrid for playing ill-tempered football- UCL news
Barcelona’s centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, has accused Real Madrid of playing ill-tempered football. He was talking in the wake of Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final. The former Manchester United player
was delighted to come out with an away win at the Bernabeu.
The Spaniard criticized the approach adapted by Madrid’s coach, Jose Mourinho, and claimed that the Los Blancos were actually not determined to play football. On the other hand, Madrid counted them self unlucky as they thought the referee favoured the Catalan
giants.
Pique thought otherwise and insisted that Madrid were very harsh and the Barca players were lucky to escape without getting any sort of injury. He claimed that Pepe’s red card in the 61st minute was the turning point in the game and the Portuguese
deserved it rightly.
The 24-year-old added, “They think the only way to stop us is playing like this [ill-tempered football],” the defender told
Sky Sports. “They didn’t want to play football, they didn’t want to keep the ball. The red card was a red card. He [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670] tackled really strong and for Daniel Alves it could be painful and after that there was another reaction, I think Marcelo against
Pedro – it was another red card”.
Barcelona inflicted defeat upon 10-men Real Madrid and the fans had to wait for 76 minutes before they could witness the first goal in the European El Clasico. The Catalan giants had the upper hand and Madrid was forced into making some harsh tackles.
As a result Pepe was given a straight red card and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296,
first in the 76th minute and then in the 87th, helped Barca achieve a massive two away-goal advantage.
Pique mentioned that Marcelo was extremely lucky since he was not in the referee’s sight when he made a harsh tackle on Pedro. Nevertheless, the youngster was ecstatic with the end result and concluded, “The referee can’t see it, but I think that finally
we are really happy for the win and we’ve taken a really good step to go to the final”.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605 will now be back in action in the La Liga on Saturday, April 30th, against Real Sociedad before they host Real Madrid for the second leg of the semifinal on Tuesday, May 3rd.
