Barcelona’s Gerard Pique claims Real Madrid did not want to play football
Barcelona’s Spanish World Cup winning defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, has gone on to blast Real Madrid and claims that the team did not want to play football.
The defender’s comments came after his Barca side went on to beat Madrid by a score-line of two goals to nil.
Early on in the second-half, Pepe was shown a straight red for a rather tame challenge on Dani Alves. Then later on in the game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 brought some magic to the game and went on to score two emphatic goals, which ended the game and potentially even
the tie.
Nonetheless, despite winning the match, Pique decided to take things into his own hands and went on to slam Jose Mourinho, his team and their tactics in the game.
Pique is quoted to have said, “They think the only way to stop us is playing like this [ill-tempered football]”

“They didn’t want to play football, they didn’t want to keep the ball. The red card was a red card. He [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-Alves-c9869 it could be painful and after that there was another reaction, I think Marcelo against Pedro – it was another
red card.

The referee can’t see it, but I think that finally we are really happy for the win and we’ve taken a really good step to go to the final”.
It is rather amazing that Pique feels that Madrid were the team that were not on the pitch to play football. This is because despite Madrid playing a rather defensive game – which almost all Mourinho teams do. It was Barcelona, who seemed to be trying out
for the Spanish diving team in the match last night.
Throughout the course of the game, Barca players were falling all over the place as though their souls had been sucked out of their bodies. When referring to the incidents that Pique has highlighted, it is easy to see how biased they are.
When looking at the Pepe incident, it is easy to see that despite the Portuguese player having a reputation for making rough tackles, he was in all honesty going in to win the ball on that occasion. The ball was about knee height and the Madrid player’s
studs caught Marcelo on their way down and not up, which in most people’s books is a yellow card at the most.
On the other hand, Marcelo landed on Pedro’s calf when the Barcelona player fell to the floor, while attempting to head the ball into an empty goal.
However, the forward missed his opportunity and sort of seized the opportunity to go over the top, when he felt contact on his leg – potentially to compensate for his miss.
Despite Marcelo going straight onto the Spaniards leg, from replays it can easily be spotted that the Madrid full-back was trying his best to avoid running into the player in the first place.
So when Pique claims that Madrid were not out there to play football, it is unclear as to what Barcelona were doing in the game, other than teaching everyone at home, how you can you turn a beautiful game such as football, into something no one would pay
to watch.
