Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano accepts that it took him long to settle down in Spain- La Liga news
FC Barcelona’s defensive midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071, has admitted that it took him a while to settle down in Spain. He also accepted the fact that his style of play was a lot different when he joined the Catalan giants but now he reckons that he has adapted
well to Barcelona’s playing style and is happy to be a part of the playing XI.
Mascherano made his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 from Liverpool in 2010 wasn’t able to find a regular place in the starting line-up at the beginning. The midfielder has recently been involved in first team action and has become an integral part of Guardiola’s side.
The Argentine international mentioned, "I've had to add a few things to my game. I'm a defensive midfielder who thinks more about his defensive duties than about getting involved going forward. However, Barcelona are a team that enjoys a lot of possession,
so I had to get involved more. I have become a more complete player since joining Barcelona. I'm still growing under the guidance of Pep Guardiola."
The 26-year-old, though, believed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 and Eric Abidal could have been the much better choice had both of them been fit. He wished to see the duo back in action as soon as possible, may it be at the expense of his place.
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 player concluded by saying, "I know that I'm getting more playing time because of the injuries to team-mates. I really wish that this hadn't happened to them, even if it would have meant less first team action for me. Abidal's situation
in particular is really sad."
Since joining the Catalan giants, Mascherano has made 22 League appearances for the club so far but is yet to find the back of the net.
The Argentinean is just five matches away from lifting the La Liga crown with the Catalan giants in his very first season and could also feature in the UEFA Champions League final after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in the first leg.
Mascherano is yet again expected to play a key role in Barcelona’s next League game against Real Sociedad on Saturday, April 30.
