Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano wary of Manchester United: UEFA Champions League
Barcelona defensive midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are the overwhelming favourites going into the UEFA Champions League final, Manchester United cannot be written off and could pose a serious threat
to the Catalans in the final being played at Wembley, on May, 28.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 man said that there is nothing to choose between the two sides and it will come down to who plays better on the night to decide between the winner and the loser.
“In a final, there are no favourites, It is one game so it depends how the teams are on the day. We will try to do everything we can to win, in the 90 minutes, or 120 minutes. We don't know how long it will take but we have confidence
in ourselves,” said Javier Mascherano while talking to Football Focus.
Both clubs have won the coveted European title three times and will be vying for a fourth title on the 28th of May.
Revenge will be high on Macnchester United’s agenda as they are looking to avenge 2008’s humiliating defeat.
Mascherano who has played in a Champions League final for Liverpool in 2007 is not sure if he will be given a starting place in the Barcelona team but thinks that whoever starts the game will have to have their A game on, as Sir Alex
Ferguson will do everything in his powers to avenge that defeat in Rome.
While answering a question about who he thinks will be the most dangerous Manchester United player for the final, Mascherano spoke highly of Rooney and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.
The Argentine international said, “Rooney is one of the best strikers in the world, He is a key player for them. Hernandez is a very, very good player. I knew him when he was in Mexico but it was a big surprise when he came to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
He is having a fantastic season. We have to be careful with both of them because they are really good players and really dangerous.”
Manchester United will take on the free flowing Catalans at the new Wembley Stadium in a repeat of the 2008 final in Rome. Both teams have already won their respective domestic titles and will eyeing Champions League glory and consequently
a double.
