Barcelona's Pedro happy to finally end goal drought
Barcelona winger Pedro has spoken of his delight at finally netting his first La Liga goal of the season in the Catalans 3-1 win at Getafe on Sunday. The Spaniard told the club’s official
website: “It was about time I got a goal in the league. I’m happy because we played well as a team and I felt fine out on the pitch. I demand of myself that I take part and work hard in training to ensure I’m in the starting line-up and help the team. I like
scoring and I think I’m in good form right now. The goals come, sooner or later. I got a lot last year, but I’ve not been so lucky in front of goal so far this season. However, I’m working hard and I’m not worried. The important thing is hard work and that
the team is winning.”
Despite insisting he was not worried by his goalless start to the league campaign, it must have been playing on his mind, especially since he seemingly scored for fun last season. But
with that monkey now off his back, Pedro was quick to turn his attention to this month’s El Clasico with Real Madrid, although insisted it won’t decide who will be champions this season.
“It’s a very important game, we are all aware of that, but we have four games to go before that and we have to deal with them. I don't think that the game will decide the title race as
it's a little too early. All the games we have are tough, though it’s true that both of us seem to be dropping very few points,” the 23-year-old explained. With both sides occupying the top two places in the league table, and looking likely to start pulling
away, the two El Clasico games may well be vital to the destination of this year’s league crown.
