Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets accused of racially abusing Real Madrid’s Marcelo - La Liga news
Barcelona’s defensive midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048, has denied any allegations accusing him for racially abusing Real Madrid’s Marcelo. The midfielder insisted that all the allegations are false and Madrid should have given it a thought before filing a case
against him.
Madrid accused Busquets for racially abusing their left-back during the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Wednesday, April 27. UEFA has recently decided to open up a case against the 22-year-old after Los Blancos claimed
that the Spaniard called Marcelo a ‘monkey’.
The incident happened during a tackle involving both players, leading Busquets to lie on the ground. The video footage though doesn’t entirely clear the situation for the youngster as he was covering his mouth while falling on the ground. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international
claims that he did not call http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 a ‘monkey’ instead he said that he had a ‘lot of nerve’.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-c35414 Freixa, has insisted that the youngster is innocent and in case of any punishment, it would be unfair on the part of Federation. Freixa added that the intensity of the game led to Madrid’s appeal but now everything has
settled down and Busquets has admitted what he actually said.
Further voicing his opinion upon the entire situation, club’s secretary said, "When they [Real Madrid] showed images from Youtube [on their site], we spoke to the player and he told us the accusations are false, and what he said was [Marcelo had] 'some nerve.”
The Catalan giants have decided to file in their arguments against the case filed by Madrid and Freixa has expressed his concerns upon the outcome of the hearing.
He concluded by saying, "We are at an early stage of what could be a great injustice. We hope that UEFA maintain a serious approach and continue, as they have done, to protect the innocent."
In case Busquets is found guilty of the alleged racism, the 22-year-old could serve a suspension period which will certainly start from the Champions League final against Manchester United.
Both United and Barcelona will greet each other in the final on Saturday, May 28, at Wembley Stadium.
