Barcelona has confirmed the transfer of Ibrahim Afellay from PSV Eindhoven in January. The move is scheduled to be made on the first of January. Now as this Dutch international has been confirmed the attention moves to the rest of the players that are Barcelona’s
potential targets for the January transfer window.
Despite Barcelona’s financial troubles, the club does not seem to be coming short with any money to spend on the signing of new players into the club. This was made even clearer in the summer when they tried to sign Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal.
Fabregas is still a target as even the player has testified that he wants to make a move back to his former club and to Spain. There are others that have caught the attention of the club and the people at Camp Nou are working hard to make their move possible.
Patrice Evra (Manchester United)
On the top of the list is Patrice Evra from the Red Devils, the transfer fee is predicted to be around thirty five million Euros. This 29-year-old is a French footballer that currently plays for Manchester United and the French national team, filling the
position of left back in the squad.
Evra is one of the elite classes of left backs in the English Premier League. He was also the captain of the French national team but has been suspended from international duty due to their World Cup fiasco in South Africa.
Patrice Evra is only seconded by Ashley Cole from the Blues in the English Premier League. He was born in Senegal and has lived in both France and Belgium before he started professional football. Evra started his football career in Italy with Marsala in
1998. Then after only a year in the club and with twenty four appearances made and three goals scored he moved to Monza.
Patrice Evra only had years stay in Monza as he only made three goalless appearances with the club. Then in 2000 he got himself transferred to Nice and in the next two years, gave forty appearances with two goals.
Then in 2002 he joined AS Monaco giving a hundred and twenty appearances in the next four years with only one goal. Then in 2006 he made a move to the English Premier League giant Manchester United.
He has made a hundred and forty seven appearances with the Red Devils and has scored two goals. He also became a part of the French national team in 2002 starting with the under-21 squad and after eleven caps made he made it to the first team national squad
in 2004 and since then has made thirty two appearances representing his country without scoring a goal.
Evra has been a key player in the squad that keeps deflecting attacks and pushing the ball back into the attack if not initiating the attacks himself. He has won three league titles and a champion’s league title with Manchester United in the last five seasons
and a lot of expected from this footballer.
Right now Barcelona is definitely interested in signing this player, as the club is stocking up on left-backs who play with consistency. They already have Maxwell, Adriano and Eric Abidal but they come nowhere close to the likes of Patrice Evra.
The media also posted on the player wanting to move away from Old Trafford and make a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona but Evra refused to comment on the matter.
To be continued…
