Barclay Scottish Open ; Tiger Woods and his new Nike putter
Hoping the new putter might bring some luck in the game; Tiger Woods is all set to tee off at the 150th Open St Andrews this Thursday.
Tiger Woods confirmed the news on Tuesday regarding his new Nike putter which he will use in the Thursday’s game. This is the very first time that the entire 14 clubs in his kit are a product of Nike. Although, Tiger Woods will be carrying his usual Scotty Cameron putter which he used at the 1999 Byron Nelson Classic for the very first time. This putter was provided to him by Titelist, his equipment provider. Ever since, 1999 he has won 72 titles and 13 major championships with it.
The problem arose at Aronimink about 2 weeks back where he performed miserably at putting. After getting tied up at 46th, Tiger Woods decided to change the club as it was giving some serious technical problems. This is the same club what has earned $90million. Tiger Wood is back at home, his energy seems positive, his vibe is coming out right and what more can be expected out of him when he is experimenting and changing his favorite putter, so that he can eliminate all chances of losing. Although the same putter has been a partner to Tiger Woods in the last 12 years but the way Tiger portrays this fact in front of the media, it seems as if he is 120 years of age and it has only been 12 years with this particular one. Changing the ball, changing the club right at the time of the big event can prove hazardous for the tall guy. That's where Woods is right now.
Situation has changed for Tiger Woods; there was a time when the caddie won’t stop telling stories about Tiger Wood’s laughter on the Old Course even on the practice session. Time has so changed since 2000 and 2005. Although Tiger Woods has ended in the 4th place in his practice sessions lately, but this does not seems enough for the champion. He looks lost; this can be due to his recent separation with his wife or a fear that is arising in his gut for changing his clubs. When inquired by a bunch of British reporters regarding this change of ball right before the big event he answered in a very irritated tone, that he knew that club was invaluable and he did not sell it somewhere, it’s just that he wanted to improve his game and wanted every aspect of it to be perfect. He can’t take a risk of missing a single cut in this event.
St Andrews is the toughest course for the best players of the world but Tiger Woods has a title of winning the championship on the same soil for two times and if Tiger does it again, he will be the first player ever to win the title for three times and that truly will be a record. When inquired about his expectations regarding the tournament and the course he said it was like a home to him, he is familiar with it but so are the rest of the players. The tees of the course are wide but this does not mean that the ball can be shot anywhere. A right shot with the right placement will make things work in the winning direction.
Tiger Woods have been running away from the media since his flaming scandal hit the market. He is not facing the media with the amount of ease he should be. Though on the first three days of Masters, he was scene waving his hat and a smile spread on his face but here, he is hiding from all the spectators and the media. Not to forget it Tiger, most of the spectators are near the first and the last hole. Where will you hide then? After all that is said, Tiger Woods has never been comfortable with the fans, and writing autographs.
