Barclays Premier League: Carlo Ancelotti defends abysmal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707
Chelsea’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has gone on to defend his decision to play Fernando Torres ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 in his team's clash with Fulham last night and has even gone on to state that Torres played well.
It came as a shock to most when Torres was given the nod, while Drogba was left on the bench for the game. However, Ancelotti went on to state that he was not planning on repeating the same actions for all his upcoming games and even planned to use the pairing
of Drogba and Torres for his upcoming matches.
The manager is reported to have said, "Maybe in the next game we will use both"
However, the master stroke that the manager tried to use failed rather dramatically as Torres had another night that he would much rather forget.
Nonetheless Ancelotti went on to defend his 50-million pound signing and stated, "Fernando played well"
"He had some opportunities in the first half and I took him out just to use Didier fresh and with power. That's the only reason I changed him. His performance was better than that against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809."
"I don't think he's frustrated because he needs time to play with us." added the Italian.
It is rather unclear as to what Ancelotti is currently playing at, even a blind man could see that Torres by no means had a good game. The striker had a number of opportunities presented to him, but, he managed to either fail to connect with the ball, send
the ball sky-high or take one touch too many. All of these signs can be attributed to one fact and that is, Torres is currently at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to confidence.
The player, ever since his switch to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, has seemed to be caught in a shell of some sort and it’s a shell that he can’t seem to get out of. Torres, as we all know, on his day is one of the best and most lethal strikers in the world, who can cause fear
to emerge in the toughest of opponents. However, his form seems to have been missing in action for so long now, that it has become almost impossible to remember the last time the player performed at his best.
It was previously assumed that the reason for his poor form was the tumbling Liverpool side, but despite him having made the switch to Stamford Bridge, nothing has changed. As a result, it is high time for the player to realize that he needs to get more
practice in and allow other players to play ahead of him – namely in this case, Drogba.
At the same time Ancelotti needs to realize that whatever it is that he is doing with the player, it isn’t working, and he needs to really re-think his strategies and his starting eleven.
At the moment, it would be highly advisable for Ancelotti to resort to his classic trident up-front, which includes the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786. However the player should also start using Torres as a sub and slowly glue
him into the side, instead of just dumping him in and hoping for the best.
If the manager manages to get his cards just right, then he might be able to save the Spaniards career and Chelsea’s season at the same time.
