i have been looking for a good foundation for a while now, and was hoping to get bare minerals, however this weekend i tried it in the ULTA the color for me was golden beige.. i was so depressed to see it doesn't make any difference to my natural look,( i have clear skin) in the beginning it was cacky as i applied a heavy coverage and the expert there said to blend and blend it so i did after few hours it just disappeared from the half of face where i applied + i felt it gave me a matt look

so what is the problem when every swears to it why ddnt it changed my look? there wasnt any shimmer as well, i need some thing that gives a fresh glowing look

pls suggest what should i try

  1. MAC mineral powder isn't really that great. If you're not used to wearing make up it feels cakey and Bare Minerals felt really light to me lol.

It's the mineral veil that gives the "shimmery glow" but in my opinion, the "glow" wasn't that great.

A great foundation that gives a glow is the MAC's mineralized skin finish foundation, but it's liquid so it may be a little tedious to put on.

Since you have great skin already there's no need for foundation, unless you want to wear it for SPF purposes. Just get a tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone. I recommend getting Clinique's moisture sheer tint with SPF15. It is VERY light weight and doesn't leave an oily residue.

Then for the glow that you want, just buy some MAC vanilla pigment (which is really sheer and has caramel reflects) and apply it to the to the apples of your cheeks, down the bridge of your nose, on your forehead and chin. Typically wear light would naturally hit you. I guarantee it will give you the luminous glow that you're looking for. And it's great for all skintones from light to dark. Go to your MAC counter and ask for a sample ASAP. Just to try it out. It's my fav product of all time!

  2. Well if you don't have anything to cover up, buying foundation is pretty much a waste of money.

I'd suggest a tinted moisturizer. And since you want that dewy look go for one that says illuminating. I really like Stila's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. It's a nice moisturizer gives you a little bit of coverage to even out skin tone and brightens up your face

  3. I love M.A.C but the mineral powder sucks. I have also used Bare minerals and that only goes on too thick and you still look like you are wearing make-up. I use Sheer Cover and let me tell you this stuff is a god send. You look very natural like you have nothing on and it still covers your flaws and even when you sweat the make-up doesnt melt. I strongly suggest Sheer cover.

  4. did you apply a face primer as well??  when u use face primer it stays on longer and smoother

  5. hmmmmmm......hav u check google yet?

  6. I've used several mineral products from different companies.

Right now, what I've found that works best is to apply a light moisturizer or primer, then the liquid mineral foundation by Maybelline, and a cream blush (I actually use a Clinque lipstick, for both my cheeks and lips). Blend with a sponge to absorb any excess and even out the foundation.

Then I apply a light dusting of the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil, and top it with a brush of Bare Minerals blush in a color that complements my creamy blush color.

That sets my makeup for the whole day - all I have to do then is "fill in" with eye color, mascara, brow pencil and lip color.
