Barefoot Duke, the most promising entry for the Bernard Barry Bookmaker A2 525 Round 2 Heat 3 at Shelbourne Park
A lineup of six will race in the third heat of the Grade A2 Bernard Barry Bookmaker A2 525 Round 2 at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards on Wednesday, 14th March. The race offers the prize money worth €100.
Contesting tonight are Cornamaddy Shaw, Barefoot Duke, Forest Rock, Climb A Tree, Black Hall Pearl and Dusseldorf.
From among the lineup, the entry with the best credentials is Barefoot Duke, Late Late Show’s two-year-old black son out of b***h Kilara Gypsy. The two-year-old is very lightly raced with four starts into the new season.
After a work out on 12th January over 328 yards, Barefoot Duke bagged both the races that came next. On 15th February, he won a 525 yards race by clocking the distance in 29.42 seconds while in lead of five and a half lengths. Following
closely behind and joining the winner on the other side of the wire was Galtymore Miggs.
Barefoot Duke’s next start was over 525 yards again and this time he reached the other end of the wire in 29.14 seconds while leading by a staggering eleven lengths. Yet again finishing the closest to the winner was Galtymore Miggs.
He was entered as the evening’s favourite in the third start of the new season that was to get him the seasonal hat trick but it turned out to be a missed attempt.
On 29th February, he was second in a 525 yards race after the winner Galtymore Miggs went through the wire in 29.49 seconds. Barefoot Duke fell victim to the half length by which the winner led and had to settle in the runner up’s slot.
Galtymore Miggs who had parked as the runner up behind Barefoot Duke finally capitalised on the chance.
His last start was in the Grade A2 Bernard Barry Bookmaker A2 525 Round 1 Heat 4 on 7th March at Shelbourne Park. The 4/7 favourite runner up, Barefoot Duke, made it to the other end of the wire in 29.21 seconds while the winner Tyrur Skippy,
took 29.05 seconds to end the business.
His victory tonight is almost inevitable as the lineup is pretty harmless. His fifth start of the season should get him back to the winning track.
