Barisal Division v Rangpur Division – National Cricket League, 2012/13 – Match Update – Rangpur win by an innings and 40 runs
A focused bowling attack, coupled with some unexpected contributions from the lower order, led the Rangpur Division to claim an emphatic victory, by an innings and 40 runs, over the Barisal Division in their first-class match during the National Cricket
League, played from November 23 to 26, at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
The match kicked off with Rangpur winning the toss and choosing to field first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajidul-Islam-c88015 (14-4-34-2), proceeded to tear through Barisal’s batting order.
Only five of Barisal’s batsmen were able to reach double figures, and out of these, Islamul Ahsan (74) and Zakaria http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamrul-Islam-c70149 Rabbi (26*) made average contributions.
The rest of the batsmen scored a combined total of just 11 runs, and by the 80th over of their innings, on day one, Barisal were all out for 245.
Eager to make up for their mediocre batting performance, Barisal’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robiul-Islam-c86349
Robi (1), wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Litton-Kumar-Das-c73018 (16), Sajidul Islam (0), Saymon Ahmed (1), and Tariq Ahmed (15) – were all dismissed early, and by the 18th over of their innings, Rangpur were at 48 for 5.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudul-Hasan-c73899 (54), followed
by a 103-run 8th-wicket partnership with Alauddin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Athumani-Kakonzi-c46628 (110).
Ghosh was eventually dislodged, but Player of the Match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alauddin-c42858 Babu took it from there. Another century stand worth 114 runs, between Alauddin Babu and Ariful Haque (52) put Rangpur on steady ground, and they reached a sizeable 514 before they were all
out on day three.
The team then proceeded to effectively defend their total, with Barisal finding themselves unable to face up to the challenge of setting their opponents a target. Sajidul Islam (13-4-44-3), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ariful-Haque-c45422 (11-3-17-2), and Mahmudul
Hasan (14-5-41-2) kept Barisal in line, and Kamrul Islam Rabbi (41*), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftekhar-Nayem-Ahmed-c64053 (32) were the only ones who managed somewhat competitive performances. The final day saw Barisal bowled for 229, with the Rangpur Division going
on to win by an innings and 40 runs.
