http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 midfielder Ross Barkley was satisfied with the progress that he had made during the 2011/12 campaign, and admitted that fitness will be the key for him to ensure regular team action in the coming term.
The 18-year old is considered as one of the rising players at Goodison Park. Earlier, he was awarded the Keith Tamlin Award in view of the marked amelioration shown by the juvenile player in the previous season.
He joined the Everton Academy at the tender of age of 11 and represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in Under 16, 17, 19 and 21 levels. After making an impact at such a young age, his early entry into the Premier League was delayed by a serious leg injury in October 2010 which
kept him out of action for almost ten months.
However, the English footballer made a return to the Everton squad at the start of the previous season and made his Premier League debut against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in August. So far, he has capped 9 club appearances for the Toffees.
Nevertheless Barkley insisted that having played a complete season with Everton without being hampered with injuries had helped boost his confidence and was determined to make waves in the future.
He told the club’s official website, “This year I learnt that working hard gets you places. I worked really hard to get over my injury… I have had a full season of playing – as I have been injured for three seasons before that – and I feel much better and
fitter so hopefully next year I can push on.”
The midfielder, who is yet to score a goal for Everton also spoke of his debut game against the Rangers last year, terming the experience the ‘best feeling’ he ever had in his life.
Despite losing the game 1-0, the Evertonian was named the best player of the match after the game by Radio City Sports.
He added, “I had actually dreamt about it beforehand.”
“Next season hopefully I can play more and break through and hopefully score a few as well. I am really looking forward to next season and staying fit, staying strong and working hard.”
