Barlow tipped for victory in Starlight Children´s Foundation Beginners´ Chase
Barlow will be the one to watch out for in the Starlight Children´s Foundation Beginners´ Chase at Kempton in England on Monday, November 26, 2012. He is young and has got the ability to be competitive at this level.
However, things will not be easy for the energetic runner, as he will be up against some decent stallions, who have got a little bit of more experience compared to him. Despite that, he will not make life easy for them and will fight from the start until the end.
He has done well in races over hurdles, but has never appeared in a chase event, which might put him under some pressure. It will be interesting to see what he manages to achieve at the end of the day.
Stamina will be the key in the 3 mile event, which is going to kick off at 13:30 GMT. The conditions will be testing, as rain has affected the ground badly. The going has been described as soft, which means that there is a slight chance of injury to some of the runners.
Therefore, a few of the trainers might opt to pull out of the class-4 contest, which has a cash prize of £3,249 for the winner. This will make things even more interesting, as only seven stallions have been listed for the competition.
Spirit River has got a chance of bringing up his maiden chase victory today, as he has got some experience of running in this format. He is not very young, but has raced in selective events since making his debut.
The seven-year-old gelding debuted in 2008, but has only participated in three chase contests since then. He has never managed to prevail in any of them, but will be looking to break the shackles this time around.
Coming back to Barlow, he seems to be quite an impressive runner, as his performances have been decent until now. Overall, he has contested in four races over hurdles, winning one of them whereas finished in third place on a couple of occasions.
The Warren Greatrex’s trainee will like the wet track at Kempton, which will help him get the attention of the bettors. Moreover, he will be partnered by veteran jockey, Noel Fehily, who has done a very good job throughout his career.
