Question:

Barn Games?

I'm trying to come up with a way to raise money for my barn so that I can start hosting my own barrel shows and stuff, but I need to get the arena fixed up and put lights out there. I was thinking of doing a fun barn day where people can play games and they only have to pay 15.00 a person, I want it to be kinda cheap so I'm not loosing too much money. I know of a few games but I want to make sure I pick the best of the best so people will come! If anyone has any ideas, or other ideas to raise money please let me know! I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

  1. My old barn used to have a game-day type thing were you'd pay like $30 and you'd split up into teams and then we'd play like "musical bags"(played like musical chairs only with like old saddle pads/ towels, and you'd trot around to music on your horse around the cones around the "bags" and when the music stopped you'd jump off and lead your horse as fast as you could toward an unoccupied "bag") egg-and-spoon and other stuff like that. It was really fun for everyone even kids who didn't ride that much and parents. They also gave out little prizes and awards. It was a blast to do and was like a highlight of the year lol.

  2. i you have poles you can play "musical stalls" you just make "stalls" out of poles and the riders walk around with the music and when it stops they have to race for a "stall" you take one away each time until you have a winner.

I like to do relays. If you have 4 barrels and 4 buckets and a 3cups you can have a water relay. You and your team start on one end and the first rider gets water in their cup canters to the bucket on the barrel at the other end and dumps the water in. You let them do this for like 2 minutes and at the end measure to see who has the most water. It is the most fun when you have atleast 2 teams so you can declare a winner.

bareback games are fun too and if you have two riders ride with a crop in between them and make the pairs go through all the gaits and see which team can ride the longest without letting go of the crop.

    good luck raising money
