Barney admits laziness being the key reason for his downfall
Dutch superstar of darts Raymond van Barneveld has finally acknowledged that his laziness played a significant role in affecting his performance on the oche.
With a career at stake, Barney is desperately looking forward to reinstating his reputation in darts once again.
He is currently a part of McCoy Premier League of darts and is investing all his efforts to uplift his status.
However, it is important to mention here that once ranked among the top tier of darts, Barney has slipped to World Ranking No. 9.
In his encounter against Phil Taylor, he was unable to defeat the 15-time champion Phil Taylor.
Regardless of the fact that he failed to win, Barney’s performance was, however, appreciated by mainstream pundits of the game.
This has not been observed in Barney’s attitude earlier. This can be vindicated from the fact that he was knocked out from PDC World Darts Championship in his campaign opening match against James Richardson at Ally Pally.
After losing his first event Barney admitted, "Losing in the first round at Ally Pally was one of the saddest things in my career".
He went on, "I went home wondering, 'What the h**l are you doing?' and I needed two or three weeks to recover before resolving to work harder than ever and prove that I'm still top class".
He further added that he began to take darts for granted. Somehow, the reality that he intends to pursue his career in the game unintentionally slipped from his mind.
Nevertheless, he realised it without any further delay and, once again, began to make use of his effort to perform as effectively as possible.
Experts believe that Barney’s second thoughts of quitting his career as a darts player and carrying on his former job of a postman also contributed to the sudden slump that occurred in his performance.
According to Barney, his fans are ready to give him another chance of making improvements in his game.
He admits the fact that previous year was not very good for him, but he is ready to accept his shortcomings and overcome them as soon as possible.
