Barney fails to reverse history as Power rules the oche
With the elite of darts, namely Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld, coming together at the oche, it was a delight for the audience at Belfast. However, for the Dutch darts player, it was yet another repetition of history.
Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor once again proved that he is just too good for his Dutch opponent.
By producing some of the best moments, they were able to make the game a real treat for the audience at Odyssey Arena.
He defeated Barney 8-4 at the McCoy Premier League. However, both players once again proved that they are the legends of darts.
It is important to mention here that Taylor and Barneveld have faced each other 46 times, out of which Taylor has emerged victorious 36 times.
Starting in doubles, where Barneveld holds 100% record, he was able to average 105.93.
However, his impressive average failed to produce any significant effect against Taylor who was able to surpass it easily with an average score of 112.91.
This is the second highest average ever recorded in the history of the Premier League.
With the help of his repeated 12-darter and 131 checkout, ‘the Power’ gained an easy access on the oche with an early 4-0 lead.
The best of Netherlands in darts bounced back in the game by launching his campaign with an 11-darter in the fifth leg.
His subsequent checkouts at 145, 79 and 80 provided him with the opportunity of clinching 6-4.
Observing that Barney’s leap in the game can be dangerous, Taylor grabbed the lead in the 11th leg, finishing the leg with a 74 on the board.
His opening of the 12th leg with a 180 and 177 convinced the audience that Power is back in his usual form and momentum.
Experts believe that Barney has still not been able to gain control on his nerve. He is performing well, but not well enough to overcome a player like Taylor.
According to some, he is still facing the dilemma of whether he wants to quit or continue his career as a darts player.
Until he is not able to overcome these concerns, he will not be able to perform his best on the oche.
