Im going to, well going to try, to work at a stables when i get back from MO.

I have experinces with horses. And the stable i plan to work at is the one i also plan on tacking lessons. Im 15 and will be 16 on July Fourth.

How much would they pay me?

Since it does vary with every stable. Can you give me a most educated guess?

Thanks a ton!

  1. In most cases like yours, they won't pay you at all but will let you work in exchange for lessons.

  2. about 10bucks

  3. I would hazard a guess at whatever is the minimum wage for your age-group in your area

  4. Oh wow, it realllly does vary. Depends on what type of barn you're going to be working at. A show barn will pay more, I'll tell you that. My guess is somewhere between 7-10 dollars an hour.

  5. Depending on what your position is, I would expect you'd get around minimum wage.  If you were an adult, it would probably be slightly more for the same job.  It's not fair, but it's what happens.  I wouldn't expect more than, say, $8.50 an hour for cleaning stalls and being a stable hand, and that's if you considerable experience.  It will also depend on the style of barn you work at.  It's also important to keep in mind that you may be paid less to work at a great facility than you would at a smaller, backyard barn.  Instead of getting paid entirely in money, you also get "paid" in experience, knowledge and ability to make professional contacts at the big-name facilities.

  6. It does vary with every stable.  You should call the one you plan to work for to get the answer.
