Barnsley signs Matt Hill on loan
Barnsley has signed experienced defender Matt Hill on loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Hill joins the club on a one-month loan contract as cover for Jay McEveley who was forced off the field with a knee injury during the defeat to Burnley on Tuesday night.
"Matt is an experienced Championship defender and that is what we need at the moment following Jay McEveley's injury.
I am delighted to have brought him to the club," said Barnsley boss Mark Robins.
Hill is a very productive and aggressive defender who should help Barnsley in a number of ways. The game he will get at the club should help his chances of pushing for
a Premier League place when he returns to Wolves.
A big help
Hill is a very versatile player, which means he can play in any position across the back four. This means Barnsley can use him in a number of ways to make sure the club
gets the best of his services over the next four weeks.
Hill is very good at getting the ball into the midfield areas of his team quickly. This will be useful when Barnsley wants to play counter attacking football. It's also
productive if Hill wants to break forward from the defence on a few occasions.
This is a great move for the club because Hill has no other incentive than to play his socks off. He has been struggling to force his way into Mick McCarthy's plans at
Wolves, which means he should be going all out to make an impression.
This will give the player the best possible chance of starting in a Premier League game when he goes back to his parent club. His time at Barnsley will also allow him to
work on his match and physical fitness.
Betting advice
Hill will make Barnsley a much harder team to break down and defend against. Wait and see how he plays in his first game for the club but don't hesitate in backing Barnsley
to do well if it's clear Hill is playing well.
