Barntick Petal all set for the Bord Na Mona 525 – Round 1- Heat 3
The third heat of the Grade A2 Bord Na Mona 525 – Round 1 will see six hounds competing for the €50 prize money. Taking the 525 yards flat challenge at Harold’s Cross on Friday, 10th August are Sillothill Lawns, Barntick Petal, Leigh Royal, Burnt
Oak Barney, The Other Peach and Manilla Byron.
The three-year-old, Barntick Petal has raced seven times ever since the new season dawned and has been successful in two of the outings. She has been racing since the previous season, and has raced at Limerick, the Shelbourne Park and Harold’s Cross.
Head Bound’s three-year-old daughter ended fifth in the seasonal debut on 7th January, 2012 in the Tyrur McGuigan @ Stud 575 Round 1 Heat 4 at the Shelbourne Park over 575 yards.
The race was won by the favourite entry, Broadstrand Lad, who landed the race in 31.10 seconds and led by the margin of 3 ½ lengths.
Barntick Petal took 31.83 seconds to race through the track.
Five losses down the season had the Galligan trained striking a back-to-back.
Barntick Petal won The Pick Six Starts Now Novice 750 on 31st January, 2012 at Harold’s Cross over 750 yards. She broke from the fifth trap well and then led from the fifth position, concluding the race in 42.97 seconds, and winning by the margin
of 5 ½ lengths.
Settling as the runner-up of the race was, Zip Lightening, who timed the track distance in 43.41 seconds.
The black and white daughter out of, Barntick Live, then claimed The Pick 6 Jackpot Starts Now 750 on 17th February, 2012 at Harold’s Cross over 750 yards. The black and white b***h was fast to race away and then led for the remaining distance
resting the race in 42.58 seconds.
He won by an impressive margin of eight lengths setting Paulstown Vieri as the runner-up.
The 5 to 2 shot for the race then lost the next four races that she undertook. The most recent race resulted in a second position. Keeping a vigilant check on speed and competition will surge her chances of being the first one through the wire tonight.
