Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has planned to construct a new cricket stadium. For the purpose, BCA has formulated a committee, which will explore various areas and piece of lands for the construction of the stadium. The committee will be taking care of
the entire construction and planning of this new project of BCA.
The planning committee includes BCA President Chirayu Amin, two Vice-Presidents, two Joint Secretaries and the Treasurer. The committee has assured BCA that members will make sure to get an ideal location for the project.
According to sources, BCA has announced the formation of their new project of building a cricket stadium, along with the formation of a committee in their Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
A BCA official stated, “A member questioned about the status of cricket stadium project. The management replied that they have been looking for a suitable piece of land and that a new committee has been formed to handle the project.”
All members of the management including Vice Presidents Samarjit Singh Gaekwad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-c88566 Patel, Joint Secretaries Snehal Parikh and Sachin Dalvi and Treasurer Arun Gandhi along with BCA President, were present at the meeting.
It is also likely that the association increases their members in upcoming years. A BCA member, Raman Patel asked if the association was going to take more members to which the management said that it was considering the proposal.
At present, BCA has 2,453 members including 1,569 ordinary ones.
Another BCA member, Sheetal http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mehta-c75574 objected and inquired about Rs. 40 million being paid to reserve a piece of land for the stadium. She questioned the BCA that whether they have approved the title clearance certificate of the land or not. However, she did
not get a reasonable response in reply to her question.
Former cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Narayan-c78616 Satham also questioned about Vijay Hazare's statue that the association had promised some years ago. He added that BCA should first fulfil their previous promises before planning new constructions and buildings.
The association explained and discussed with members that they have surveyed a piece of land, which seemed very appropriate for the stadium. However, the architect quoted heavy prices, which was not affordable for the management.
Secretary of Baroda Cricket Association, Snehal Parikh expressed that the meeting was held in a friendly environment and positive vibes were shared between members. He said that all members gave their suggestions and queries on various issues, which shall
be considered according to priorities.
