It was a disappointing day at Moti Bagh Stadium, Vadodara, where the Group B match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Baroda-c769 and Tamil Nadu ended in a draw, as Baroda failed to bowl-out Tamil Nadu before stumps.
Nonetheless, it was a fair contest between the two sides where after Baroda were bowled out for 208 runs in their first innings, the Tamils gained an upper hand by piling 230 runs by the end of their innings.
However, Baroda were on their way to redemption as they ended the penultimate day of play with 116 for four.
The side was determined to bat big on Tuesday, as they knew that a lead of around 200 to 300 runs would put them in a position to win the match.
AT Rayudu and PR Shah resumed the day’s proceedings in a bid to put the bowlers on the back foot.
However, they were left rattled instead, as on the first delivery of the day, Shah edged the ball straight to the wicketkeeper. He walked back to the pavilion with an overnight score of one run.
It was then time for star performer, RK Solanki’s turn to come in the middle, and he did not disappoint his fans as he forged a commendable partnership with Rayudu, taking the score to 149.
This impressive batting pair played its last on the departure of Solanki, who was run out after hitting 17 runs off his bat.
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gagandeep-Singh-c58301 (10) and SD Vohra (0) were least impressive, a 38-run knock by MY Vahora was followed by 22 runs from BA Bhatt, as the side reached 260. Besides the performance of the lower-order, skipper Rayudu’s 66 run-knock was pivotal in giving Tamil Nadu a target of 239 to win.
The Tamils had a modest start to their innings with the openers jabbing 24 runs. The second wicket-partnership between A Mukund and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Karthik-c1780 was short with the latter perishing without scoring a run.
With A Mukund on 45 and B Aparajith on 40, Tamil Nadu ended the day with 108 runs on the board.
