Baron Davis still adamant to play for Los Angeles Clippers
The public criticised his fitness, and Coach Vinny Del Negro and owner Donald Stirling are not happy with his performance, but despite all that Baron Davis still wants
to continue his professional basketball career with the struggling Los Angeles Clippers.
It is not a hidden agenda anymore that with Davis' scoring graph going down, point guard  Eric Bledsoe is the next best option at the guard position for the Clippers in
future. The firm faith the Clippers have shown in Bledsoe is strengthening his push for a place in the team. Trading Baron Davis is not a big deal for Clippers, but Davis is not in favor of
such deal. He told reporters, “It is tough because it is the nature of the business. But it's tough because I don't want to leave. I am here. I came here for a reason. If I were to be traded,
I just think that I just never really got a chance to do what I was signed here to do.''
Davis signed a $65 million deal three years ago. However, the Clippers would like to get his contract off the books, as he still has two years and $28 million in wages
left before the expiry of the contract. The Charlotte Bobcats is Davis' potential destination, as they showed interest in working out a deal. Both Charlotte and Los Angeles have had a poor
run this season - the Bobcats have a 9-19 record, while the Clippers have a 9-22 record.
The Clippers need some sizzling performances to turn their season around, while Baron Davis has been very ineffective for Clippers this season. He scored in double-digits
four times only. Davis knows very well that he is walking a tightrope with the Clippers, but he hopes to stay in his hometown of Los Angeles. Davis said, “This is the first year I’ve been here
where we haven’t had any trades. The first year (2008-09) they wiped the whole roster clean after seven games. … Last year, we were right there and then, they dismantled the team. For me, it’s like it hasn’t been a real stable situation.”
Davis further stated, “Now it looks like we have some stability. It would be great to just be here and take this unit, if this is the unit that we’re going to have, to
take this team into the future for the next two and a half years that I’m here, and make this a winning side. And I know that I can do that and I will do that now knowing that there’s stability.” Davis
scored 17 points and nine rebounds in the Los Angeles Clipper’s 100-99 victory over the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena in his last game. At the same time, his possible replacement at point guard position, Eric Bledsoe could not even reach double digits as
he contributed only five points.
With such a poor performance from Bledsoe, whom the Clippers place a great deal of trust in, it remains to be seen whether they will reconsider their decision to trade
Davis or go through with it.
