Sparta Prague boss believes that Chelsea’s Peter Cech, Bayer Leverkusen’s Michal Kadlec and Galatasaray’s Milan Baros will play a key role in the group stage matches
Czech Republic national team manager, Michal Bilek, has played down fears about the fitness of Milan Baros, insisting that the 30-year-old striker is fit to play the opening group stage match against Russia at Stadion Miejski on
Friday.
There is little arguing that the former Aston Villa man has been in decent form at the moment, having scored eight goals from 28 league appearances. Baros, meanwhile, has cemented his position in the national team after scoring
41 goals for his country.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker, who was the top scorer at Euro 2004, limped off the pitch while training with the rest of the squad on Tuesday, and doctors fear that Baros has ruptured his thigh muscle.
However, Bilek has shrugged off the reports, suggesting the Narodak’s to be without the services of the UEFA Champions League winner in the opening game of the European tournament.
The Narodak’s have been drawn against Poland, Greece and Russia in the group stages.
Bilek believes that his side needs to work harder for the upcoming mouthwatering encounter against a decent opposition, and has assured the fans of progressing to the later stages of the continental tournament.
The 47-year-old coach went on to point out other key players in the squad and gave examples of Chelsea’s Peter Cech and Bayer Leverkusen’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michal-Kadlec-c25422.
“Kadlec is an important. We expect him to play in the midfield tomorrow but I'm still not exactly sure who else will start against Russia.”
“Petr Cech is a very important player for our team. However, I will not compare him with Tomas Rosicky, who also plays an important role in the team.”
“The pressure on the team is now increasing, time is running out very quickly, and we want to quickly enter the field to start the match.” The former Real Betis player was quoted as saying.
Bilek has conceded that they are expecting a large number of fans ahead of the match.
