a local trainer started riding throughbreads for barrels. dont laugh. it works.

so basically, any horse will work. as long as its fast and can turn

well im not one to judge.  i jump my thouroghbred 4 feet.  but i have touched down on some barrels before.  hun, you find a horse that has stamana, speed, and a whole lot of trust, and they will wrap around those barrels like god hit them.  seriously, people get caught up in breeds, but if a horse can ru, a horse can run.  People leave out the fact that you have to TRUST your horse.  find a horse that suits you, and that has potential... it will work out, but dont leave an oppertunity just because of the breed.

The Quarter Horse is the pick for most people, but in reality ANY horse could be good at barrels. With proper training any breed can be a good barrel horse.
