Barriers In Art, GCSE art coursework.. Ideas please!?

Question

For my GCSE art coursework and exam i have to produce a peice on "Barriers In Art"

The work can be very individual..

Abstract, cityscape, figurative, interior, landscape, natural forms

Basically it can come under any of the following...

Barriers in the city

temporary barriers

barriers in the landscape

emotional barriers

control barriers

One idea that i have is do paint some thing linked with human rights, how lack freedom/ free speech is a barrier in every day life for many people .. but now im a bit stuck!

any ideas maybe china, n**i/ war time?

i'd really like some insipation so if anybody knows of any artists that have done work on these themes?

censorship... i knw of one painting by picabia or duchamp.. can't remember which one.. but the painter has a leaf of a tree to hide  a man's d**k...to pass the censors.

u cud research artists who did well b4 the n**i's came to power nd how their work changed after the n**i's were in power.

but first settle on the type of barriers u'd like to explore nd then search for artists.
