Barrington and Tolman to play State championship final today – High School Volleyball
Barrington High School boys volleyball team is up against Tolman in the final of the State Championship that is scheduled to be played today, June 10th. The venue for the decisive match is the Rhode Island College’s Walsh Gymnasium.
If the Eagles manage to scrap together a win, it will be the first time that they will have won any league championship. The competition between the two teams will be tough as each one will be entering the courts with a commendable performance record. If
the overall season statistics of the Eagles show 15 victories at the cost of suffering only one loss. However, Tolman has incurred two defeats along with winning 14 games. Interestingly, the two losses that Tolman has suffered in this season have been handed
out to them by the Eagles. Tolman will be trying its best not to suffer the third one at the hand of the Eagles whereas Barrington will be trying its best to extend its winning streak over Tolman.
The first match of this season that took place between the two teams on March 28 went on to four sets. Donaldson Gymnasium saw the Eagles win the opening set whereas the second one was taken by Tolman. However, the last two sets were bagged by the Eagles.
The final set scores in the first encounter of the Eagles and Tolman stood at the following figures: 25-21, 16-25, 25-18 and 25-23.
The second time that the Eagles and Tolman met was on 28th April. This time around, the Eagles were able to make a clean sweep over their rivals, defeating Tolman by 25-19, 25-18 and 25-17.
Looking at the past trend, the Eagles will be more confident about taking on Tolman. The underdogs will need to put in a bit of extra effort to negate the psychological pressure of winning only one set out of the seven played against the Eagles in this season
so far.
The players to watch out for on the Eagles lineup are Sean Farrell, Senai Hagos and Evan Bulman.
