Barrison and Kristiano to collide in the Harrison Marquees Standard Open National Hunt Race at Hereford on 27th March
The Class 6 Harrison Marquees Standard Open National Hunt Race is to be staged at Hereford over two miles and a furlong. The race has assembled a lineup of ten runners who will contest for the race that has the purse worth £1, 365.
The one who has come out of the previous season with a second position in the final race in 2011 is Barrison, Baryshnikov’s five-year-old grey gelding out of mare Good Skills.
On 7th October, Barrison finished the closest to the winner in the At The Races Sky 415 Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Newton Abbot over two miles and a furlong.
The race was won by the 1/3 favourite, Jimbill who was paired up with Richard Johnson and the two led the field of six by eight lengths. Settling into the third position was Best Friends Girl.
The trainer Charlie Longsdon and the other connections are hopeful about Barrison’s seasonal debut specially in regard with the second position that he scored in a race that was more challenging than what he faces today.
If he could manage finishing the closest to the winner previously then today he might as well be the winner himself.
Today he will race his seasonal debut along with the third start of his career. Through the two races that came his way, Barrison notched up from a twelfth position to scoring second right in the next start.
Another note worthy entry on the lineup is Kristiano, Kris Kin’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Moy Valley. He has already raced through the new season and is being expected to improve drastically towards the second start of the season.
Kristiano’s seasonal debut was on 10th February in the Betfair Brings You Better Value Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Kempton over two miles. The race was won by Valdez who escaped defeat only by a neck’s margin from the runner up, Offbeat
Safaris, who was riding with A. P. McCoy.
The 100/30 favourite of the race was positioned eleventh while Kristiano finished the race right before him.
The two can turn out to be potential threats for one another in today’s race.
