Question:

Barrons for SAT chemistry?

I am currently doing the Barron's for the SAT chemistry test. I know that it is the HARDEST prep book ever and contains a lot of extra information that we dont even need sometimes.

What I wanted to ask is that if I ONLY do the barron's and not do kaplan, and princeton review stuff, will it be enough. Because even though barron's contains a lot of extraneous stuff, but it might miss out on the stuff that is there on other books. Like barron's doesn't have the FORMULA CHARGES for the lewis structures whereas kaplan does and vice versa for some other topics. I hope to get around or above 700 for the test.

And I dont have that much time that I could go through more that one book (I am taking in october). But I would probably finish the barron's completely and thoroughly including the practice tests. Will that work?

what do you think from your experiences??? people....help???

  1. I personally used the Princeton Review's book and got an 800 on the test.  However, I think that the thing that got me an 800 on the test is that I had an excellent chemistry preparation in my high school's AP Chemistry class.  Barron's does have a reputation for being overly bloated with information you don't actually need (it makes them look like they prepare you more thoroughly, when really, it's just detracting from what you need to know).  If you stick with only one test prep book, you should be fine (no need to cross-reference things and combine books, etc.).  You can afford to miss a good handful of questions on the test and still get an 800, if that makes you feel better.  If I had to go with one book, I'd go with Princeton Review, but if you already started with Barron's, then just go with that.
