Barry Bonds Question

Question

is nobody signing barry bonds because they are racist or is it only because he took steroids or both. Hamilton took drugs and hes bak and loved, petitte is bak and has a job, and when bonds broke record he was facing against other pitchers who took steroids too, and most of them did. What is your guys opinion.

Barry actually did not lie about anything, but rather is concealing evidence of "recreational drug use".  If anyone actually paid attention to the initial hearings, he just skipped around the subject with vague answers that were not to the point.  That cannot be considered "lying".  It could be his consience keeping him from revealing what actually happened, but until he blatantly "lied" like Roger Clemens, then the jury is still out on Barry.  He may just one day reveal the "whys and hows", but until then, it does not matter anyways.....  Everyone is so nosy about his business!

I also was fortunate to have met him at work (EA Sports) and my neighborhood (San Mateo/Foster City, CA), was invited to his "afterparty" during All Star Festivities week 2007 in SF and met him as an invited sponsored guest of the Giants at PacBell/AT&T Park's locker room.  He's nowhere near what the media portrays him to be.....  He's genuine, kind, friendly, not a snob, not a jerk, will shake your hand, take the time to chat, will sign autographs freely and does not walk around like he's God.

Only the people jealous of his celebrity status and wealth, people that never met him, fake fans, bandwagoners and racists say bad things about him.  Nobody is signing him because the teams are just sore that he hit all of those HR's against them.....  Nothing personal.....  Hopefully there will be an AL team that needs a DH next season.  That would be a great opportunity for Barry to play just one more season before retiring as the career and season HR leader!

Racism? The reason why people won't sign Barry Bonds is because he LIED about taking steroids. Josh Hamilton didn't take steroids to help him hit, he became addicted to drugs like cocaine and marijuana, both of which he is now free of. Petite did take steroids but he admitted to using it and now he's rug free.

It's not racist but hes case brought altot of bad publicity, its not racism, he's one of the greatest players in his league!!!

(plus he just broke a world record if he was younger and didn't do those steroids he wouldn't have this problem)

he is a pompous jackass who thinks that the team his is on can't survive without him. he also never attended Giant's meetings, conferences or whatever. No one wants a self-centered jerk on their team.

Hamilton didn't use performance enhancing drugs.

Petitte has come out said he was sorry and moved on.

Barry Bonds has denied using at all.

Bonds has yet to admit any wrongdoing on his part. His excuses that he did not know the cream and clear were steroids is ridiculous. He needs to man up and admit he was wrong but unfortunately it's too late, for if he does, he does not pass GO and goes straight to jail. Nobody wants the distraction of a pending perjury trial to distract the clubhouse. Clemens wasn't signed either so whatcha got to say about that?

His own agent Scott Boras even said not one team in the 30 has a interest in him.  That should say something.  He is too much of a distraction with everything going on, and Clemens did not find a home, either.  I say both should stay retired whether they want to be or not.

I do not believe Barry not playing this year is due to racism.  In fact it has nothing to do with it.  Barry's reputation of being a difficult teammate has a lot to do with it - whether justified or not.  Barrys mere presence brings attention to a team that most players and organizations can not handle.  A high profile team say like the Yankees could absorb him due to the fact they already have a rock star status with their club history and mega stars Jeter and AROD.  Other teams do not have this capability, and Barry being there while would no doubt help on the field, it's off the field where it might be a bigger liability than his outstanding performance on it.

Josh Hamilton is loved because he is the ultimate comback story of star young athlete, losing it all falling under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and somehow was able to turn his life around, and is using his story as a way to help other kids not fall into the trap that he did.

All that being said, I am obviously a Barry fan, and would love to see him play again.  All of us in the Bonds Squad of 138 were happy to see him roamong the yard again this past Saturday.  "Barry! Barry!"
