Barry Bonds to the Fens?

If it were to happen you have to realize we give up nothing in terms of prospects, no Michael Bowden or Justin Masterson and a positional player like the Braves want for Texeira. Plus Texeria will only agree to be traded if he signed to a long-term deal which the Sox will not do. I'd rather gave Mark Texeira because he's a switch-hitting power guy and if Manny leaves he's a perfect fit over the long haul. Lefty-Lefty with Ortiz vs RHP sounds nice in the middle of the order, but we can go after him in the offseason. Real Sox fans must realize the plusses of obtaining Barry Bonds: 1.Cheaper, incentive-laden deal for a month or so, 2.You don't have to give up prospects in a trade, 3.You don't have to worry about coming to terms with a player you trade for. Yes,if you lose a player you trade for in the off-season you get a conditional supplemental draft pick(in between Rounds 1 and 2)in the Amatuer Draft. But Bonds offer a cheaper solution and he's willing to come off the bench.Thoughts?

  1. No.

  2. I'd take him. Who gives a **** about his personality?

  3. No way.  It will never happen.  Imagine showing up to Fenway and cheering for Bonds?  Noone likes the guy, hes a cheat and a clubhouse cancer.  We don't need him in beantown!?!

  4. He is trash.

  5. Bonds is stupid but he is not stupid enough to go to the Red Sox on a rental basis. He's better off just plain retiring. He knows if he were to go to Boston it would just be for their playoff run and should they go on to win the World Series he would be cut the next day. I can't see him going anywhere. He will tell all of these teams I've been here all year and the only reason you want my services now is because you know you can't win it all w/o me. He is not going anywhere
