Question:

Barry Bonds to the Rays?

Jim Rome was talking about the possibility of it becoming a reality a few minutes ago. The Rays have been hit by injury, and well it seems as though Bonds is a viable option. He can still play...so he says..., and yeah he may be a cancer to the clubhouse, but he is going to be making the minimum, if he starts to play by his "own" rules the Rays can just cut him.

What do you think is going to happen?

  1. Yeah, I heard Jim Rome talking about that. As far as I see it theres about a 50/50 chance he'll even come back. Then a 75% it will be the Rays. So I'm thinking he probably will.

  2. h**l no!!  Bonds is done with baseball for this season and probably for good.  He would bring nothing to the table to any team at this point in his career on top of the fact that he hasn't played live ball for almost a year.  Rome must be hurting for topics on his show to come up with that!

  3. Why would the so-far successful Rays need a distraction like Barry to their team?

  4. yes i think the rays will pick him up and win the world series!! yay go rays..

  5. I agree it's not an expensive option, but do you really want to chance ruining a team with great chemistry already by bringing that cancer in.

  6. the rays need a good outfilder but they need someone that can also play defense constantly..barry bonds is 44 years old, would you give someone 16 million dollars for 2 months and then watch him play half the games or just DH? ..no way...i wouldnt do it...Am not even gonna mention the circus he would bring to Tampa...

  7. I can see how people would think it could happen - especially with Crawford being out the rest of the year.

If I were the Rays, I'd stay far far away from Bonds.  No way I'd s***w around with the team chemistry they have going on.  It took them a long time to get it that way :).

  8. As a giants fan he has olways been my favorite player and i hope the rays give him a shot cause he deserves it. He still can hit and get onbase and i still cant believe any team hasnt signed him thiis year. He would bring so much money to the team by teams selling out tickets.

Even though he might bring alot of trouble to the clubhouse all the rays have to do is tell him the rules to follow and if he doesnt then cut him. And it shows that he just wants to play the game cause he enjoys it cause he said he would take the minimum amont of money and give it to charity.

I hope the rays get him, and i think they will
