  1. as mondays goes my was shocking havin to listen to the whinging wce supporters well to that i say let him off  but he will get 6 weeks maybe 8 (got to find a new subject matter)

  2. they need to suspend him for the rest of the season

  3. Noddy, so you're suggesting that if you annoyed me, I should be allowed to punch you to the ground with no punishment?

Everyone likes a bit of action in a footy game, but what Barry Hall did was way, way, way out of line. I'd like to see him suspended for the rest of the season, at the very least for 6 weeks AFTER his wrist has healed.

Hall is a thug and this is far from his first offense. The AFL needs to show him that this sort of behaviour will no longer be tolerated by making an example of him.

  5. Just the karma affect take care of things, which it already has

  6. i dont think so maybe 6 weeks but is their any point he has a broken wrist so that will keep him out for 4-6 weeks anyway

  7. Since he will be out for a while due to his wrist injury, he should get an additional 6 weeks on top of lost time for injury.

He needs to keep his boxing skills in the ring and not on the field :(

  8. He will get suspended regardless of the injury he got during the match

  9. 10 weeks would be awesome

  10. As if he should get suspended, the dude pissed him off so he smacked him one. it was a solid hit to. i think he shouldnt be suspended as he injured and the dude deserved it anyways

  11. Nath,

You must be a swans fan.........as only they would think like you. This is not the first time Hall has done something like this, he should get 12 weeks, but with the AFL being so limp wristed he will probably only get 4 - 6 which is pathetic at best....or other teams can only hope his injury is worse than first thought and he is sidelined for a lot longer.

  12. THE AFL Tribunal has outed Sydney bad boy Barry Hall for seven weeks for his sickening punch to West Coast Eagle Brent Staker.

After a hearing that went just over an hour, the three-man panel only took seven minutes to rule that the much-publicised incident should earn 790 demerit points.

That means Hall is out for seven games and also has 90 carry-over points, meaning he is only 10 points shy of another one-match suspension.

As expected, Hall pleaded guilty to the striking charge, which has attracted widespread media attention.

His counsel, Terry Forrest QC, argued Hall should receive a 25 per cent discount on the penalty for pleading guilty and tribunal chairman John Hassett strongly advised the jury that the plea should affect their decision.

After the hearing a remorseful Hall said he was satisfied with the outcome.

"Just in terms of the outcome I was prepared to cop whatever came my way," he said.

"Seven weeks we think's fair, as I said we were prepared to cop whatever came my way.

"I just want to take this opportunity to once again apologise to Brent Staker for the incident.

"It's unacceptable and I will try and better myself so it doesn't happen again."

Hall will be available to play against St Kilda in Round 12.

Earlier tonight, Fremantle defender Steven Dodd had his tripping charge against Richmond's Jack Riewoldt downgraded from intentional to reckless.

That means Dodd escaped with a reprimand, rather than the original one-match suspension.

  13. Rub him out for the rest of the season.

  14. I think you could classify it as a "king hit" Staker did not seem to provoke the incident and did not have his hands up in a fighting stance, he seemed totaly unready for that kind of reaction. In the NRL Melbourne Storms Danny Willams  got 18 matches for a "king hit" on West Tigers Mark Oneill, will the AFL do the same?

  15. 7 weeks is sufficent. It was a stupid act, lets get over it now. Hopefully Staker is alright and Baz can go away and come back a better person.

  16. barry hall is a dead set legend!

    staker's father is just annoying!

he just can't admit that his son got nailed by barry!

he should get 4 weeks max!

it was left handed too lol

i'd feel more embarrased to be hunter and get pushed over!

  17. There have been instances in the past where players have been charged by the police for such actions, just because it happened on the footy field does not excuse anything, it is a work place the same as any other out there, if I had done that at my work I would be instantly sacked and charged with assault by the police, something these players need to start thinking more about.

  18. 6-8 weeks
